Instructions and FAQs

Step 1

Contact a veterinarian or pet poison control hotline

Time is crucial in poisoning cases. Your initial action should always be to reach out to your veterinarian, an emergency animal clinic, or a Pet Poison Control Hotline.

  • ASPCA Animal Poison Control: 888-426-4435
  • Angel Animal Poison Control: 877-226-4355
  • PROSAR International Poison Control: 888-232-8870 (Note: Fees may apple for consultation)

Step 2

Open your Pup Purge Kit

The Pup Purge kit includes:

  • Dosing guidelines by dog weight
  • One 1oz packet of 3% hydrogen peroxide
  • One plastic tipped syringe

Step 3

Prepare your dose

  • Read the dosing guidelines and find the appropriate dose volume based on your dogs weight
  • Tear or cut open to top of one of the 3% Hydrogen Peroxide packets. You want an opening big enough that you can insert the syringe to the bottom of the packet.
  • Holding the packet with one hand, fully insert the syringe into the packet with the other hand.

Step 4

Fill the syringe

Based on the dosing guidelines for recommended dose for your dog based on their weight, pull back the plunger of the syringe to fill with desired volume. Dog Weight: Dosage (ml)

  • Up to 10 lbs: 5 ml
  • 10-20 lbs: 7.5 ml
  • 20-40 lbs: ml
  • 40-80 lbs: 15 ml
  • Over 80 lbs: 20 ml

Step 5

Administer the dose orally

Position Your Dog: Gently hold your dog's head steady, keeping them in a standing or seated position to make it easier for them to swallow without inhaling.

Administer the Peroxide:

Option l: Place the syringe or baster tip into the side of your dog's mouth. Gently pull back their lips and squirt the peroxide into the gap behind their back teeth, aiming toward the cheek.

Option 2: If your dog resists, you can try squirting the peroxide from the front, aiming toward the back of their tongue or the roof of their mouth

Important: Administer the peroxide slowly to reduce the risk of aspiration (inhaling the liquid), which can cause complications.

Additional tips and guidance

Encourage swallowing: To help the peroxide go down, you can gently stroke your dog's throat or offer them a small treat after administering the dose.

Monitor and wait: Walk your dog around for a few minutes to help speed up the vomiting process. If they do not vomit within 15 minutes, you can administer a second dose (but no more than two doses in total).

When to Seek Help: If your dog still hasn't vomited after the second dose, or if they show any signs of distress, contact your veterinarian immediately for further assistance.  Choose an appropriate location like in the shower, on a tile floor, or outside.

Have paper towels ready to manage any mess.

Stay calm and reassuring to keep your dog as relaxed as possible during the process.
